Improved sleep

Sleep problems and disturbances with falling alseep or staying alseep affect millions of people.
Poor sleep can cause lethargy during the following day and also cause poor internal feeling, poor productivity, a loss of concentration and can generally cause a deterioration in health.
Recent studies suggests that meditation can help not only increase the ability to focus and concentrate more accurately following a meditation session due to the deep rest the system gains during practice, but can also create deep a system more relaxed and conducive to undisturbed sleep.

One study was carried out on a group of adults who had trouble sleeping. Half were taught meditation whereas the other half completed a sleep education class that taught them ways to improve their sleep habits. Following six weeks of study comparisons were drawn. When compared with the people in the sleep education group, those in the meditation group had less insomnia, fatigue, and depression at the end of the study.

The practice of meditation during that particular study was found to develop a deep physiological shift in the body that is known to be the exact opposite of the stress response thus allowing the body and mind to enjoy deep and restful sleep.
